Gas chromatography (GC) is an instrumental preparative analytical technique designed for the separation, identification, qualitative, and quantitative analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and semivolatile organic compounds (SVOCs) even at trace concentrations with the following chemical properties:
• Sufficient ‘volatility’
• Temperature stability
• Low molecular weights (Mw < 1500 g.mol-1)
• Low boiling point (bp < 400°C)
• Solubility in Organic Compounds
• Low to the medium water solubility

Description
Clarus® 680 dual-channel gas chromatograph with autosampler technology delivers multiple options for direct liquid injection and headspace technique on one system.
The headspace technique is used for solvent-free extraction of volatile organic compounds, eliminating the time-consuming steps and the risk of human error associated with other GC sample preparation methods. This technique is suitable for solid, liquid, and gaseous samples.
Two flame ionization detectors (FID) are universal detectors used for the identification and quantitative analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), i.e. for the detection of only compounds containing C-H bond.
The gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) system is used for universal, direct, fast, accurate, and sensitive identification and quantitative and qualitative analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) even at trace concentrations.
