MPMS3 SQUID magnetometer (SQUID)

The MPMS3 (Magnetic Property Measurement System 3) from Quantum Design is an automated cryogen-free SQUID magnetometer and susceptometer for very sensitive magnetic measurements of materials. It is built around a 7 T superconducting magnet that can ramp at up to 700 Oe/s. Its standard temperature range is 1.8–400 K. The system measures in three ways: 1) SQUID-VSM: the main mode, with sensitivity below 1×10⁻⁸ emu at fields up to 2,500 Oe and fast data collection; 2) DC scan: the traditional method; and 3) AC susceptibility: from 0.1 to 1000 Hz, with drive fields of 0.1–10 Oe.
